Serving myself up on a platter at The Museum of Illusion, Austin, TX

Hello again 😊

I am passionate about solving complex problems, building user-centered digital experiences, and adding value to businesses by creating products people love. Over the past 6 years, I've had the immense privilege of doing all of these as a solo Designer with startups like WiiCreate, or as part of a large design team within enterprise organizations.

Currently, I'm a Senior Product Designer at Paystack. My focus has been around designing a brand-new payment solution for for SaaS Platforms and Marketplaces. This involves streamlining the onboarding process and optimizing the processes around payment splits, all designed for businesses of all sizes.

I've found myself fascinated by Design Systems and I've spent some time creating, managing and documenting Design Systems for enterprise companies like KBX Technologies as a consultant through the Toptal Talent Network.

I believe Design should be:

ethical

Like Mike Monteiro in his book Ruined by Design, I believe that “the things we help design, what we choose not to design and who we ignore during the design process are all political acts with real consequences for society and humanity.”

As a result, I employ an ethics-first decision making process that involves considering any negative impacts my decision could have on a customer, non-customers, society, the planet and more. My goal is to help more people than I hurt.

inclusive

Like Microsoft's Inclusive Design Principles, I believe Designers should strive to design products that consider the full range of human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age and other forms of human difference.

As a result, I strive to take small steps that include everyone and every situation. I know that I can't eliminate every barrier that exists, but I'm sure going to try.

helpful

Growing up in Africa, and more specifically, Nigeria, has taught me that "wahala no dey finish” (a Pidgin slang that means “Problems are inexhaustible”).

I'd consider myself successful if I can help solve a problem that a group of people are facing and ultimately make their lives better.

I'm really good at:

  • interface design
  • experience design
  • design systems
  • user research
  • product strategy

I'm learning how to:

  • sketch
  • bake
  • to play the piano

Outside of work, you can find me:

  • listening to worship songs
  • watching tv shows
  • playing video games
  • on “aunty-duty”

Fun fact

I built this website primarily in HTML and Markdown, preprocessed by Eleventy (11ty), hosted by Github and distributed globally by Cloudflare. I don't write code often, but I find that the more I do, the better I understand best practices for A11Y.

You can think of this website as an ever-evolving playground for testing best practices for web accessibility. I chose 11ty because it seemed simple enough to get started and I wanted to learn something new at the same time.

I believe there's always room for improvement, so shoot me an email if you find any blockers while accessing this site.
